Announcing the First Annual (in recent history) NASW Wyoming Chapter Awards!

The purpose of the awards is to honor social workers, citizens, and agencies that have contributed significantly to the profession, local community and/or society.  All NASW award nominees are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of personal conduct and professional integrity; advance the values, ethics, and knowledge of the profession; and support public and social policies that ensure equal rights for all regardless of race, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, income, and physical and mental challenges.  In addition, the criteria specific to each award are as follows...

Social Worker of the Year: MSW or BSW who makes a demonstrable difference is such areas as advocacy for clients or the profession, social policy, practice, program creation, administration development or research; takes risks to achieve outstanding results; promotes and advocates for the profession and the populations social work serves.

Emerging Leader Award: Recognizes outstanding contributions of early career social workers with a BSW or MSW.  Recipient will have less than 10 years of experience in the social work field; promotes a positive public image of social work; demonstrate exemplary leadership, expertise, and dedication to the profession; contributions to the field (through community service, advocacy, practice, education, etc) must be above and beyond that which is expected of an early career social worker.

Greatest Contribution to Social Work Practice Award: Honors members of NASW who have made a significant contribution to Social Work practice.  The contribution may include work with individuals, couples, families and groups or in the area of supervision, consultation, research, administration or writing. Nominees are evaluated for this award based on demonstrated leadership in social work practice via development and implementation of creative programs and services; promoting new practice insights and/or methods through consultation, teaching, and/or writing; consistently seeking effective solutions to practice problems/dilemmas; providing persistent and effective advocacy for underserved populations.

Public Citizen OR Agency/Organization of the Year: Honors a non-social worker OR agency/organization that has done one or more of the following: 1) exemplifies the social work profession with outstanding service to populations served by social workers; 2) takes risks and enlists public support for improved human services; 3) advocates for and contributes to the public’s awareness of social problems; 4) makes a significant contribution to an area or population of concern to social work such as public social issues, populations at risk, and quality of life for communities
