Rules and Regulations up for review!

The Wyoming Mental Health Professions’ Licensing Board is revising the Rules and Regulations covering certified and licensed mental health professionals throughout the State.  The proposed new rules and regulations are expected to be submitted to the Governor for review and posted to the Mental Health Professions’ Licensing Board website any day! (http://plboards.state.wy.us/mentalhealth/index.asp).

The Rules and Regulations will be available to the public for review and comment for 45 days.  Please check the Mental Health Professions’ Licensing Board website for further announcements and details.

Division of North West Region

At the December meeting, the Board of Directors voted to amend the by laws to divide what is currently the North Central Region into two regions.  The division of the North West Region, currently comprised of seven counties, will result in two new regions: the North West Region comprised of Park, Big Horn, Washakie, and Hot Springs Counties; and the West Central Region comprised of Fremont, Sublette, and Teton Counties.  The proposed by laws amendment for regional restructuring will now be forwarded to the National Office for approval.  The Board of Directors anticipates the restructuring will take effect July 2010 with the appropriate election of representatives for the new regions.

As part of the survey, members are asked to indicate if they have an interest in serving on one of the committees being developed, participating in a database of persons willing to provide supervision for licensure and/or certification, and if the member has an area of expertise they would be willing to share as a resource, potential continuing education speaker, or to assist in specific program development.

The Elections and Nominations Committee is always looking for NASW-WY members to run for office and serve on various committees. If you are interested in running for a position, please complete and submit your information to the Chapter office.  You can obtain a form by clicking here.  Your information will then be forwarded to the Nominating Committee for consideration.

Elections for July 2010 will include:

4.  At Large Representative
5.  Four* Regional Representatives:
      a.  South East – Platte, Goshen, and Laramie counties
      b.  East Central - Natrona, Converese, and Niobrara counties
      c.  North West  - Park, Big Horn, Washakie, and Hot Springs counties
      d.  West Central* - Fremont, Sublette, and Teton counties
