Purpose
The Licensure, Certification and Continuing Education Committee serves as a resource and advocate for members with regards to the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board.
The Licensure, Certification and Continuing Education Committee is responsible for evaluating and certifying workshops, conferences, or seminars that contribute substantially to social work knowledge in all areas of practice. The goal of the program is to encourage the continuing education of all social workers throughout the State and to establish professional standards of excellence in those continuing education offerings. In addition, the committee develops, plans, and publicizes the chapter's continuing education calendar and seeks to develop/sponsor approximately four one-day workshops each year.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Develops and maintains an appropriate CEU application packet to be provided to requesting entities.
2. Evaluates CEU applications to determine appropriate presenter qualifications, overall content and contact hours and notifies applicant of outcome.
3. Collaborates as needed with the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board to facilitate compliance with CEU requirements for licensure/certification.
4. Serves as a resource for members in their interactions with the licensing board.
5. Develops / facilitates the provision of CEU offering specific to Clinical Supervision on an annual basis.
6. Researches and recommends a licensure preparation offering for Wyoming.
Members, Terms, and Criteria
The Committee Chairperson is appointed by the President in conjunction with the Board of Directors. The Chairperson is responsible to report the activities of the committee to the Board of Directors, coordinate meetings, insure the goals and responsibilities of the committee are being met, and insure that activities and decisions of the committee are documented in an accurate, timely and thorough manner.
Interested members submit an application to the Board of Directors. The committee consists of at least four NASW Wyoming members in addition to the Committee Chairperson. Members are selected by the Board of Directors with consideration given to selecting members that represent a diversity of practice settings, backgrounds and geographical areas. Committee members are encouraged to recruit and make recommendations to the board regarding new members.
Terms are not limited, although the President will review committee composition on an annual basis to insure effective fulfillment of the committee's charge. Chapter staff provide administrative support to the committee as necessary.
Committee members must have email accessibility as the majority of the committee work is done by email. Members must also be willing and able to make a one year commitment, attend committee meetings ~ in person or via teleconference ~ when held, and be willing to occasionally serve as the committee representative to Board meetings.
